Ok. That’s not quite completely true. I got surprised big time this year for my birthday, and I was only kind of happy about it. Because I hate NOT KNOWING everything… and not having control over my own life. But then I got over it because it was pretty awesome that Mark brought my friend Thelma in to town… and THEN surprised me with a Barack Obama Luau. Which was awesome.
I’m just thinking about surprises… and I wanted to hear from our readers:
What’s the best surprise ever popped on you… OR … what is the best surprise you’ve ever popped on someone else??

Congrats to Jeff on his surprise–being nominated by students for the HLS Staff Award for outstanding service, creativity and expertise in website and poster creation, coming up with awesome ideas for advertising and promoting events and student organizations, and being an overall awesome guy! GOOOOO Jeff!

Joe did the same for me last year! Oh wait, two years ago (we’re getting ooold). Brought Miriam to California and I was TOTALLY SURPRISED. To the extent that I gave Miriam a dirty look when she snuck up on me while I was sippin’ margaritas. Like: “WTF, am I hallucinating, what the HELL is that I’m seeing, I’m going crazy.” It was awesome.
Another awesome surprise was getting a phonecall from two very special people telling me they were engaged. Well, it wasn’t really a surprise (i.e. inevitable 🙂 ) but it was a fun bit of news. I screamed so loud my colleagues still hate me/think I’m crazy.
An awesomer surprise would be a surprise visit from two said special engaged peoples. Yes?

Not technically a surprise I guess, but when my mom landed in Paris to meet me two years ago, instead of taking her to her hotel (where she was dying to take a nap!) I led her in the wrong direction and took her to the Eiffel Tower!

SHEENA
A beautiful day in August sunny but not humid which was great cuz her aunt had a pool (nice one too). I was supposed to go and sleep over my friend’s house over the weekend. Since her aunt lived in Attleboro, we were going to go spend the weekend there so that I could go shopping for my Sweet sixteen centerpieces. So I go to my friend’s house and my friend wasn’t there. Her family told me that they would take me to the aunt’s house with them and that Meghan (my friend) was there waiting for me. So I am like whatevs…. So we’re traveling….. We’re traveling…. We’re traveling. Finally get to Attleboro from Malden and I see there are Happy Bday signs everywhere… I am like hmmm it must be her cousins bday today… cool a bbq… thinking… Hope they got marinated meat… lol Anywho… By the way I am a big veggie tales and tazmanian devil fanatic… keep that in mind… So I get there and the whole place is decorated with veggie tales and tazmanian devil and people jump out to say surprise. Meghan invited all my friends over and decorated it with my fave theme…. All of my favorite foods and candies were there. They were celebrating me and my birth in August instead of September….Then I asked wow what made you decide to do such a great thing for me… She said well I remember around September last year when one of our friend’s was talking about her pool party you said that you wish you could have one. since your bday is in September that you couldn’t b/c by then it’s already too cold…Great friend …. That was a great surprise….. I think I will call her…
